Glimpse #7 - inspired by a pooch I've long thought was part of my soul family, Argo.

Glimpses are a collection of very short stories intended to capture the essence of very ordinary people, places, or things that I find extraordinary.

Oh, scaredy-beast! You make me smile. My heart opens just a little more with deep gratitude and acceptance of your particular brand of weird-ism. Especially when you shiver and shake at any sound. For a pooch fashioned in the form of a formidable beast, your kind heart and unending compassion betrays you.

Scaredy-beast, with soft short fur atop your impossibly heavy head. If rendered on to paper, there would be a sea of gray, white, and pink. The great white shark of the couch. Bulk but no bite.

Oh, Scaredy-beast, with your uncanny gift of standing on my legs just so, in the most uncomfortable way. A lapdog through and through. Perhaps you didn't get the memo: Big dogs are not meant to be lapdogs. The again, let's be honest, I'd have it no other way. I complain to pay homage.

Scaredy-Beast, thank goodness I am your comfort and you are mine. Even though we both get caught up in the illusions of life. You with your fear of plastic bags and vacuum cleaners. Me with my fear of chaos and an unorganized world. When we're in it, we're in it until one of us can impart the wisdom that comes with time. Just wait a bit and all things pass.

Oh Scaredy-Beast, I'm grateful to know you. I see you.
